JetBlue Airways to expand flight services to Jamaica

JetBlue Airways recently announced that it is aiming to expand its flight services from Jamaica beginning next spring.

Robin Hayes, Chief Commercial Officer of JetBlue Airways, said that the airline will introduce nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale from Kingston, the Jamaican capital, effective April 30, 2012. Hayes hoped that the airline will have a sizeable presence in Jamaica.

He also said that this has become possible due to valuable partnership that the airline entered into with Jamaican tourism and airport officials.

Jamaica is considered as a premier tourist destination in the Caribbean. Recently, Jamaica was also recognized as the Caribbean’s Leading Destination by the prestigious World Travel Awards.

With the launch of JetBlue flights, travelers from Jamaica will be able to conveniently connect from Kingston onwards to Austin; Richmond; and the New York metro area (LaGuardia, Newark or Westchester County). Besides, the new flight service will also be complementing the airline’s daily flights to New York JFK from Kingston.

Currently, JetBlue Airways also operates direct flights to Boston, Orlando and New York JFK from Montego Bay.
