Lufthansa Airlines Calls Off 747-8I Test Aircraft Purchase

Lufthansa, Germany's flag carrier has officially called off its Boeing 747-8I order made to Boeing, after the manufacturer had shown interest in retaining the aircraft for internal reasons.

Boeing 747-8I registered as N6067U was one of the three crafts used by the manufacturer to test Boeing's galley, air conditioning, and lighting equipments of Boeing.

The aircraft in question was slated for a late 2013 delivery. With this delivery Lufthansa’s order of five Boeing’s would have completed. However post Boeing' request to retain the aircraft, the airlines decided to "relieve" Boeing 747-8I from its delivery schedule.

Lufthansa Airlines had originally ordered 20 Boeing 747-8I, which were to be delivered in the batches of five per year till the year 2015. The airlines said that it has just cancelled the order of this particular aircraft and that the remaining Boeing’s will be delivered as per the decided schedule.
