Lufthansa to continue flights to Tehran

Germany’s national flag carrier Lufthansa recently announced that it will continue with its flight operations to the Iranian capital of Tehran.

The airline in a statement said that Lufthansa flights will continue to be operated five times every week to Tehran as usual and there will be no change in its program.

Lufthansa has made known its decision despite two European carriers KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Austrian Airlines indicating that they would be stopping their flights to Tehran due to a sharp decline in the sale of flight tickets.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has said that it will be stopping all its flights to Tehran as of April 2013. The airline is currently operating four-time weekly flights on Amsterdam-Tehran route.

Austrian Airlines operated its last flight between Vienna and Tehran on January 13, 2013. The airline said that it will no longer be operating flights on Vienna-Tehran route because of decline in the demand for seats. Until now the airline was operating four flights every week to Tehran, which was curtailed to three flights in November last year.
