Qatar Airways aiming to have 170 aircrafts by 2015

Qatar Airways, the national flag carrier of the State of Qatar, recently announced it is looking forward to expand its fleet in the next few years.

Media reports quoted Akbar Al Baker, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, as saying that his company wants to boost Qatar Airways flights services and expand the network significantly on international routes.

Al Baker said that Qatar Airways is aiming to grow its fleet to at least 170 aircrafts by the year 2015. The airline currently owns a fleet of 112 aircrafts.

Al Baker, while speaking to media-persons, said that the airline is mulling to purchase Bombardier’s stalled CSeries and Boeing’s larger Dreamliner 787-10X aircrafts. Qatar Airways has recently taken the delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.

The airline’s CEO further said that within the next three years the fleet of Qatar Airways will expand to 170 aircrafts and would be flying to nearly 170 destinations. He said that the company would definitely be one of the major global players.
