Qatar Airways cancels flights to the U.S. northeast due to Hurricane Sandy

Passengers booking Qatar Airways flights tickets to the U.S. northeast had to face harrowing times because of the cancellation of a number of flights in the wake of devastating Hurricane Sandy.

Apart from the cancellation of Qatar Airways flights, other Middle East carriers like Etihad Airways and Emirates Airline also followed suit and cancelled flights to the northeastern part of the United States.

The global aviation industry had to take a financial hit as several U.S., European and Asian carriers had to cancel flights due to Hurricane Sandy.

The hurricane, which is now rated as a “post-tropical” superstorm, had forced the closure of New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and LaGuardia Airport, and Newark airport in New Jersey.

Media reports said that these airports would remain closed “until further notice” as various parts of the city have been devastated because of rising flood waters. The situation is grim with several domestic and international flights remaining canceled at major airports in the Northeast region.
