Singapore Airlines hikes fuel surcharges for Philippine flights

Singapore Airlines flights operating out of Philippines have announced increase in fuel surcharges.

Apart from Singapore Airlines, seven other international airlines operating in the Philippines have also received approval of the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) to hike fuel surcharges due to increase in global jet fuel prices.

The CAB approval was granted to Silkair (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., and Eva Airways Corp. on March 16, 2012.

However, Qatar Airways and Malaysian Airline System Bhd. received CAB approval on March 20, 2012.

Qatar Airways has been allowed to increase fuel surcharges for certain flights operating out of Philippines.

Media reports said that Malaysian Airline System Bhd. after receiving CAB approval also increased its surcharge for flights in First Class and Business Class between Malaysia and the Philippines starting March 21.

AirAsia, Inc. succeeding in obtaining CAB approval on March 26, 2012, after which it has also increased its surcharge for all domestic flights starting March 27. AirAsia has also stated that it will also increase its international flights.
