Singapore Airlines reports increase in load factor this May

Singapore’s national carrier Singapore Airlines recently said that the bookings of Singapore Airlines flights tickets showed a considerable increase in May this year.

According to the airline, its passenger load factor increased 2.2 percentage points to 75.8 percent in May 2012 as compared to the same month in 2011.

The airline stated that Singapore Airlines flights carried 1.5 million passengers this May, an increase of 6.6 percent.

The airline’s passenger load factor across all route regions strengthened, except for Africa and West Asia.

The airline reported strong on-year improvements in Europe and South West Pacific regions since loads had been affected because of the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan last year.

Singapore Airlines further stated that its overall cargo traffic was 7.4 percent lower this May as compared to the same month in 2011, whereas its cargo capacity declined by 4.6 percent.
