Spirit Airlines, the budget carrier of the United States has a pleasant surprise for its customers. The airline was recently voted among the top-ten fuel-efficient airlines operating in the country. The no-frills carrier earned second spot, and is only behind Alaska Airlines in the race.
The results of a study conducted independently by International Council on Clean Transportation were declared recently. This organization is non-profit and based in Washington D.C. This study was conducted to find out the fuel-efficiency of 15 airlines operating in the U.S.
Several factors including routes operated, number of seats occupied, taxiing with one engine, among others accounted for the airline’s fair performance. These measures taken by the carrier have helped it become one of the most environment friendly airlines and at the same time one that is concerned about its carbon footprints.
Passengers booking Spirit Airlines tickets in the future would be glad to travel on an airline, which cares much for the sustenance of life on the planet.
