An inaugural event was organized at the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles, which was attended by 45 Asian print and broadcast journalists to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit on 15th February 2011. On the auspicious occasion, Air China announced the introduction of second nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Beijing. The new flight service will begin from 1st September 2011.
Rui Yang, Deputy General Manager, Air China, while giving the presentation said, “The new flight in September will make it convenient for travelers to China and those bound for other Asian destinations such as Vietnam, Philippines, India, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Singapore, etc. More important, it is the most time-and-cost-efficient way of traveling to Asia."
Air China is the only airline that flies nonstop from Los Angeles to Beijing and has the privilege to fly the official flag of the country. The airline is also one of the most profitable carriers in China. The frequent flyer program, the Phoenix Miles, offered by the airline is also first among the other Chinese airlines.
Yang remarked, "I am very pleased by the enthusiastic response by the Asian media to Air China's expansion plans for Los Angeles and North America. The warm reception and strong attendance by the editorial community are very encouraging."
