Air France direct flights to Beirut from Marseille begins

Air France recently announced the launch of its direct flights to Beirut from Marseille for the first time. The launch of new Marseille-Beirut route is aimed at providing travelers quick and convenient access to these popular Mediterranean destinations.

The Beirut flight from Marseille was launched on October 2, 2011 with 85 passengers boarding the inaugural flight on an Airbus A320. The passengers were later welcomed at the Rafik Hariri International Airport in Beirut upon their arrival.

Michel Bou Abboud, General Manager of Air France in Lebanon, said that the decision to start direct Marseille-Beirut flight services has been taken after considering the importance of Rafik Hariri International Airport as a significant destination in the region as well as after undertaking extensive research on the economic viability of the flights. He said that Air France has introduced low fares to attract customers and boost tourism in both the countries.

Air France disclosed in a statement that three flights between Marseille and Beirut are likely to operate every week. The flights are expected to be operated on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays of the week.
