Air France-KLM expanding Canada services next year

Air France and KLM have decided to expand their services to North America, particularly Canada. Both the carriers will be launching flights to key Canadian cities of Edmonton and Vancouver next year. With the launch of new routes, the two leading European carriers would now be providing the largest number of flights services between Western Canada and Europe.

Air France has announced it will start offering up to five weekly flights to Vancouver from Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport effective from March 29, 2015. The airline will deploy a Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the route configured with a total of 309 seats – 35 seats in Business Class, 24 seats in Premium Economy and 250 seats in Economy Class.

Along with these new Air France flights to Vancouver, the KLM will be additionally providing seven weekly flights services to this Canadian city from Amsterdam-Schiphol. According to a spokesperson of the airline, KLM will be offering three weekly flights to Edmonton from Amsterdam effective from May 5, 2015. However, starting from June 22 onwards the airline will be increasing its frequencies to four weekly flights.

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines would be operating the flights with the help of an Airbus A330-200 aircraft with a capacity to fly a total of 243 passengers. The aircraft will be equipped with 30 seats in World Business Class cabin, 35 seats in Economy Comfort Zone and 178 seats in Economy Class. KLM will also be first and only European carrier to conveniently connect Europe to the Canadian city of Edmonton. The airline will be operating service to this destination in addition to providing daily flights services to the Canadian city of Calgary.

Both Air France and KLM have maintained their presence in Canada for over 65 years now. These carriers have been serving four destinations – Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal – during the winter season. The flights to these cities are operated from Amsterdam Schiphol and Paris-Charles de Gaulle airports. A total of 46 flights are being operated every week to all these destinations.
