Air India to continue meals on 90-min business class flights

India’s flag carrier Air India recently disclosed that it will continue to serve passengers taking business class flights and traveling less than 90 minutes.

However, the economy class passengers on short-haul domestic flights with a flying time of less than 90 minutes will now no longer be served meals, which comprised roti, rice and curry spread.

The debt-ridden national carrier will replace meals with dry snacks such as biscuits and sandwiches for such economy class passengers.

The move of the airline is aimed at cost cutting to offset growing losses.

Air India currently operates 20 flights out of Mumbai to cities such as Goa and Ahmedabad.

The airline said that it will serve dry biscuits and juice for flights lasting up to an hour. Besides, it will also serve hot beverages such as tea and coffee, if requested by the passenger.
