Air New Zealand to launch Boeing 777-200ER flights to Los Angeles

Air New Zealand recently announced it would be deploying its new Boeing 777-200ER aircraft for operating nonstop flights from Los Angeles to Rarotonga, Cook Islands via London Heathrow starting from December 3, 2016. The Boeing 777-200ER aircraft will be replacing the Boeing 767-300 aircraft being currently operated on the route.

With the launch of the new Boeing aircraft the airline will be boosting its capacity by 36 percent. A spokesperson of Air New Zealand said that the customers booking business class tickets would be offered 22-inch-wide leather armchair in the Business Premier cabin that can be converted to a lie-flat bed. The airline would also be offering leather seats in its Economy Skycouch and Premium Economy cabins as well.

Kathryn Robertson, Air New Zealand's General Manager UK/Europe, said, “Air New Zealand considers Cook Islands as an important Pacific Island destination as it is being continuously served for the past 45 years. The customers will now be offered enhanced amenities, luxury and greater space with the launch of the new Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. We are also delighted to inform that the travelers from UK will now find it more convenient to connect to the Cook Islands as the airline has been operating daily nonstop flights from London Heathrow to Los Angeles.”

Meanwhile, Air New Zealand has bagged the titles of “World's Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat” and “World's Best Premium Economy Class” during the recently held 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards presentation ceremony at the Farnborough Air Show. Apart from these two awards, the Los Angeles Lounge designed and managed by Air New Zealand on behalf of Star Alliance was also presented the “Best Alliance Lounge” for second year in a row.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards are presented every year and considered to be the key global indicator of airline excellence. The awards are presented based on a survey in which above 18 million passengers participate. The study takes into account nearly 250 airlines worldwide.
