Airberlin expanding network to the United States this summer

The new frequencies will be operational effective from April 13, 2017. Media reports said that Airberlin will be supplementing New York JFK with four flights per week. The airline had originally planned for 10 flights per week to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. With the increase in frequencies, New York JFK will now be served with two daily flights on each weekday from Berlin-Tegel. The outbound flight will depart from Berlin at 13:35 hour arrive in New York JFK at 16:15 hour. The second flight will however make its departure from Berlin at 18:50 hour and arrive in New York JFK at 21:30 hour local time. Both the flights will operate daily.

The airline will also be increasing its frequencies to Miami as well. Airbelin will now be operating five flights from Berlin-Tegel to Miami per week, instead of the originally planned thrice weekly service. The two destinations will be served with year round flights for the first time this year from mid-April. The airline will be deploying an Airbus A330-200 aircraft to serve the route. The outbound flight will depart from Berlin at 9:25 am and arrive in Miami at 13:55 hour local time. The departures would be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. However, on Thursdays and Sundays the flights will depart from Berlin at 15:20 hour and reach Miami at 19:50 hour local time.

Apart from New York and Miami, Airberlin has also announced it will be launching flights to two new destinations in the United States as well. The airline will serve two Californian destinations – San Francisco and Los Angeles – from early May 2017. The airline will be operating thrice weekly flights to San Francisco, while flights to Los Angeles will be operated four times per week. Both the routes will be served nonstop service from Berlin-Tegel. This will be in addition to the existing flights services to Dusseldorf. During the current summer schedule Airberlin will be offering 84 nonstop flights per week to/from eight destinations in the United States, which includes San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Fort Myers, Miami, Orlando, Boston and New York JFK.
