Airfares to get cheaper from Norway in 2015

Norway is forging ahead to buck the rising airfares trend in Europe and is all set to provide cheap airfares to various worldwide destinations from 2015. Media reports recently quoted a study by the Global Travel Price Outlook indicating that flights from Norway would decrease marginally by 0.3 percent.

Norway’s Scandinavian neighbor Sweden is yet another country which will also be offering cheaper tickets next year, according to the forecast.

When compared to European countries such as Germany and UK, the two Scandinavian nations would make the travelers happy by providing low airfares. The study said that airfares in Germany would rise by 2.5 percent, while in the UK the prices of flight tickets will increase by 1 percent. The study further said that airfares globally are expected to rise by 2.2 percent.

Norway’s national carrier Norwegian Airlines had in June this year already announced that it is planning to offer cheap flight tickets to its customers for travel between London and the United States.

A travel expert said that Norwegian Airlines had been playing a vital role in the region and was quite active. This has resulted in lowering of airfares significantly and boosting competition. Even the Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) is trying to keep pace with Norwegian and is into stiff competition for prices.

A spokesperson for SAS however declined to reveal the airline’s plans whether it is contemplating to reduce airfares in 2015 or not. He said that there has been stiff price pressure in the market and it is being seriously felt in the Scandinavian region as well.
