Alaska Airlines places largest-ever order for 50 new Boeing 737 aircrafts

Alaska Airlines is bracing to increase its flights frequencies and operate on several other new routes. The airline recently announced it has placed its largest-ever order for buying 50 new Boeing 737 aircrafts. The order is worth $5 billion at sticker prices.

The airline in a statement said that it won’t be paying the full price and would be getting discounts on its new aircrafts purchase.
 
Alaska Airlines said that the order includes 37 of Boeing’s redesigned 737 aircrafts, called the Max. According to the airline, the new Max aircraft is a new version of the classic plane with a redesigned engine. The airline said that this would help in improving fuel efficiency.

Alaska Airlines presently owns a fleet all comprising Boeing 737 aircrafts. Currently, 120 aircrafts are operational and the airline is set to take the delivery of 25 more aircrafts over the next several years.

The airline said that the new order it has placed for 50 Boeing 737 aircrafts are likely to be delivered between 2015 and 2022.
