Italy’s flagship carrier Alitalia recently started offering complimentary chauffeur car service to its customers booking business class tickets for travel to 35 destinations being either operated directly or via Abu Dhabi.
Media reports said that the chauffeur car service would now be available to customers taking business class flights to Rome from New York JFK, and also on flights to Abu Dhabi from Venice, Milan and Rome. The airline will also be offering the service to destinations served in association with Etihad Airways, which include Johannesburg, Hong Kong, Delhi, Mumbai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney.
Alitalia will also be extending the complimentary chauffeur car service from May this year after launching new flights to Mexico City and Santiago. A spokesperson of Alitalia said that once the customer purchases a business class ticket and books the complimentary service, a chauffeur will be meeting and greeting the customer on the day of departure and ferry them to the airport. After the arrival at the destination airport, the customers will again be offered complimentary service and would be taken to their chosen address. If the customers have booked the return trip the airline will be making similar arrangements for them.
The move of Alitalia is aimed at refurbishing its image and transforming the entire travel experience for its customers booking medium-haul and long-haul flights to various destinations worldwide. The airline is currently revamping its fleet with brand new cabin interiors and top notch services. The airline’s service in business class also include a new ‘dine anytime service’ and Wi-Fi.
