All that you should know regarding Infant Air Travel

The very thought of traveling by air makes some people jittery. This is because travel involves extensive planning and great expenses. Moreover, air travel becomes stressful when you are traveling with an infant. When you buy air tickets to travel along with your infant, you need to be fully prepared for this and make your planning in advance in order to avoid stress. If your preparations are adequate and well in place then you won’t have to face piquant situations when you go to board the international airlines at the airport. It is therefore quite important for you to know certain things while traveling with infants by air.

Traveling is a great fun. When you contact your travel agent for getting airline tickets for cheap rates and finally set on your voyage, you just get a thrilling experience as a whole new world opens up before you. Though traveling with infants has its own challenges, you shouldn’t hesitate to venture out or postpone your vacation. Air travel can become an enjoyable experience for you and your baby. Are you unsure whether air travel is safe for your baby or not? Don’t make this dilemma stop you from buying inexpensive flight tickets for your travel abroad if you have already made your plans. You should know that infants can even travel when they are 2 to 3 weeks old, though the ideal age for infant air travel starts when they are 4 to 6 weeks old because by this time they develop a stronger resistance towards the germs of plane’s air conditioning.

Besides, the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) has formulated certain rules regarding infant air travel safety. According to the rule, a child between the ages of 2 weeks to 2 years can travel on the lap of an adult without any extra cost on a domestic flight. For this, a boarding verification document is required for infant air travel identification. No boarding pass is needed. You can also buy airline tickets at affordable rates and book a seat for your infant for which a boarding pass is issued. However, birth certificate is needed in order to validate the age of the infant when traveling on infant plane tickets. The infants will also have to go through the scanning process just like any other passenger. Most of the airlines impose restrictions on carrying liquids, gels, etc on board, though it is not strictly applicable on people traveling with small babies. If, however, those items being carried along with the infants must be declared for inspection. Thus, the above information will prove to be useful, minimize your hassles and ensure a safe and comfortable journey when traveling with your infant.
