American Airlines, Hainan Airlines sign codeshare agreement

American Airlines and Hainan Airlines recently signed a codeshare agreement aimed at benefitting each other’s customers. With the new agreement in place, the two airlines will now offer new opportunities to their frequent flyer members to earn and redeem miles/points.

The agreement also provides new growth opportunities for Beijing-based Hainan Airlines in the United States and American Airlines in China. The codeshare agreement with Hainan Airlines has also boosted American Airlines presence throughout Asia.

After being approved by the government the new codeshare agreement will open new markets complementing American Airline’s existing service to China. Currently, American Airlines is operating nonstop flights to Beijing and Shanghai from its hubs in Chicago O’Hare and Los Angeles.  

Hainan Airlines is presently operating more than 2,800 weekly flights to cities across China as well as to several international destinations in Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, Australia and the Middle East.
