American Airlines into codeshare pact with Hainan Airlines

American Airlines reciprocal codeshare agreement with Hainan Airlines was recently approved by the US Department of Transportation providing more flight options to the travelers in US-China markets.

The codeshare agreement is aimed at promoting travel and tourism and further strengthen economic and cultural ties between the US and China. The agreement also allow Chinese travelers to book air tickets and conveniently connect from cities throughout China to the US via Beijing and Shanghai.

American Airlines in a statement said that this agreement will enable Hainan Airlines to display the AA designator code on its flights currently being operated on the Seattle-Beijing route, as well as on its flights within China beyond American Airlines’ Beijing and Shanghai gateways. The agreement will also enable Hainan Airlines to offer flight deals to the passengers.

Similarly, this agreement will also enable American Airlines to display the HU code on its flights currently being operated on Chicago-Beijing, Chicago-Shanghai and Los Angeles-Shanghai routes, as well as on flights operated by American Airlines within the US beyond Hainan Airline’s Seattle gateway.
