American Airlines has introduced the biggest benefit for travelers flying in economy class. The passengers are now permitted to take one piece of baggage along with any personal item which can be placed under their seat. Flyers can enjoy the benefit soon from September 5.
Previously, when the airline declared its Basic Economy Service in 2017, the travelers were only allowed to carry a personal item abroad such as a briefcase or a pocketbook under the fare rules. Extra carry-on-bags would be charged extra comprising a cost of $20. Such rule could not be carried on well, neither by the airline nor the passengers. Doug Parker, CEO of American Airlines stated, ‘We introduced the product with a somewhat different model when compared to others in the past. He added, the most ideal way to get it correct is by following the line of competition.’
It was Robert Isom, American’s President who declared that they were getting away with the previous rule and coming up with carry-on-bag policy. He commented, ‘In the present market, Basic Economy is relatively doing well, and we expect to look forward a soaring number of customers, approximately more than 60%. Basic Economy will rather become more competitive by eliminating the bag restriction policy, allowing the airline to provide the customers with this low-fare product.’
