American Airlines likely to add 42 Dreamliners through 2018

American Airlines Group, which has now become the world’s largest airline operator after the merger of US Airways, has chalked ambitious plans for upgrading its fleet. The airline has indicated that it is looking forward to make Dreamliner as one of its key aircrafts as part of its upgrade plan. The airline recently announced that it is planning to include at least 42 Dreamliners in its fleet through 2018.

Media reports provided a detailed overview of American Airlines. The reports said that the airline has deployed its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on its high-traffic route between Dallas/Fort Worth and Chicago O’Hare starting from May 7 onwards. The Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is the airline’s largest hub, while Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) is its second-largest hub in the United States.

The reports further stated that American Airlines will start operating nonstop flights between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and Tokyo Narita International Airport utilizing its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft effective from August 18, 2015. The airline has also decided to expand the capacity on the route by operating more flights from the same day itself. The airline will start operating daily flights instead of the existing five-time weekly flights on Tokyo Narita-Chicago O’Hare route.
American Airlines said that its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft has been configured in two classes – Business Class and Economy Class – and will have a carrying capacity of 226 passengers. Those traveling in economy class cabin will be offered 198 seats in a 3-3-3 layout, while the customers booking business class tickets will be offered 28 lie-flat seats.
