American Airlines will soon offer nonstop flights from DFW to PEK

American Airlines has submitted a formal application to the U.S. Department of Transportation for starting new flight service between Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) and Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) in the summer 2015. After approval, it will become the first nonstop flight linking the two airports.

Boeing 777-200ER aircraft will operate on these flights. The airline is redesigning 777-200ERs fleet to incorporate fully lie-flat seats in Business Class with aisle access. There are various other additions including new Main Cabin seats; international Wi-Fi capability and in-seat entertainment. These new Business Class seats will be the most spacious of any Boeing 777 business class operated by any carrier in the United States.

Dallas Mayor, Mike Rawlings expressed delight and stated that the direct channel to the trans-Pacific region will bring new opportunities for tourism and foreign trade to the state of Texas. He also mentioned that DFW-PEK route will have a significant economic impact on the region.

Mr. Li Qiangmin, Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Houston also stated that the DFW – PEK route will provide Beijing with nonstop access to Dallas. This flight service to China will be conducive to the cooperative relations between the two countries. It will also help the economies grow and bring the American and Chinese population closer.

The new flight route will be American’s 11th route between Asia and the U.S. The carrier has started operating several nonstop flights connecting Seoul, Hong Kong, and Shanghai to Dallas/Fort worth since 2013. This new route will complement the existing Chicago to Beijing route and hence will reinforce the airline’s commitment to expand service in the Asia-Pacific region.

Chief Executive of DFW, Sean Donohue was quite thrilled with the news and said that this route is a huge milestone for DFW as well as Dallas. DFW is the main point of entry for Asian passengers into Latin America and the United States. With the addition of this route, the carrier will operate six daily flights between DFW and Asia.
