British Airways adds new drinks menu in business class

British Airways has added a new drinks menu for customers traveling in its business class (Club World). The port Graham’s Six Grapes was favorites to former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The airline has also started serving cheeses and desserts that pair well with the port. These include the camembert and cheddar with spiced mulled apple jelly and the roasted white chocolate and hazelnut tart. The port is being offered on board the flights starting August this year.

Graham’s Six Grapes was previously known as Graham’s Vintage Character Port. Winston Churchill used to often serve the fortified wine to guests visiting his country home Chartwell House. Colin Talbot, British Airways’ Head of Catering, said, “Port is incredible and gained immense popularity in the Club World. The business class customers were served about 41,000 bottles in 2016 alone. The recent addition of Graham’s Six Grapes therefore to the drinks menu is delightful experience. It continues to retain its flavor even at high altitude. A wide selection of cheese and dessert would complement the Port on long-haul international flights because of its long lastng finish and fine structure.”

Graham’s Six Grapes has been particularly created as an everyday Port for the quintessential Vintage Port drinker. Media reports said that Graham’s Six Grapes wine has till date won two trophies and seven gold medals at international tasting competitions during the last two decades, and is currently Graham’s Reserve Port. The same vineyards which have contributed to Graham’s Vintage Ports are major source for Graham’s Six Grapes as well.

Meanwhile, in another development British Airways has announced its plans to offer its business class customers the option to take advantage of a new premium dining service based on the style of a restaurant in autumn this year. The customers will be able to choose freshly prepared desserts and starters displayed on trolleys and served on table settings. Moreover, the airline has also partnered with The White Company to offer new amenity kits and bedding in business class cabins.
