British Airways to offer enhanced food choices in economy class

Enhanced meal options are waiting for all those traveling in economy class (World Traveller) on 10 long haul routes being currently served by British Airways. Media reports recently said that UK’s national carrier will now be providing opportunity to buy upgraded World Traveller meal effective from May 12, 2015. This will be in addition to the complimentary meals being provided by the airline.

The reports said that the customers will be able to pre-book their enhanced meals 30 days prior to their travel, right up till 24 hours before their scheduled departure. The meals will be available at a cost between $23 (15 GBP) and $28 (18 GBP). The meal options available for purchase include ‘Gourmet Dining’, ‘Vegetarian Kitchen’, ‘Healthy Choice’, ‘Great British Breakfast’ and ‘Taste of Britain’.

According to the reports, the customers traveling in the airline’s economy class to destinations such as Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, Miami, Mexico City, Houston, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Austin and Atlanta from London Heathrow will be able to buy the new meals.

The ‘Gourmet Dining’ comprises of chocolate ganache bar with passion fruit coulis and crushed toasted hazelnuts; braised Herefordshire beef cheek with potato mousseline, roasted root vegetables and Madeira shallot jus; or poached king prawns with sliced mushrooms, lightly dressed in a traditional marie-rose sauce.

Under the ‘Taste of Britain’ the customers will be offered summer berry pudding with Cornish clotted cream; slow roasted Wiltshire pork belly with celeriac mash and sautéed broccolini; or Loch Fyne smoked salmon with crème fraiche and caper berries.

The sumptuous offerings provided under ‘Great British Breakfast’ option comprises of chunky cherry compote with Greek yoghurt and homemade granola; traditional British breakfast featuring Cumberland sausage and mature cheddar omelette; freshly baked bread including selection of madeleines; or seasonal fresh fruits.
