China Southern to begin flights from Guangzhou to London

China Southern Airlines has said that it will start flights from its business class hub Guangzhou to London effective June 6, 2012.

The airline has dubbed the new Sydney-Guangzhou-London route as ‘Canton Route’. The airline in a statement said that its ‘Canton Route’ via China will be an alternative to the established Kangaroo Route via Singapore between Australia and the UK.

He Zongkai, Executive Vice President of China Southern Airlines, said that the airline wants to transform Guangzhou as an ideal transfer hub between Australia and Europe.

Besides launching of flights to London Heathrow, China Southern Airlines will also increase flight frequencies for Guangzhou-Amsterdam and Guangzhou-Paris in mid-year.

The airline will deploy Airbus A330 aircraft fitted with spacious business class seats. The passengers will be offered 1.9 meter angled-flat bed in a 2-2-2 arrangement when taking business class flights on the route.

China Southern Airlines will operate flights three-times per week, on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, on the Guangzhou-London route.
