China Southern ups business class fares, disappoints travelers

China Southern Airlines has increased the fees on its business class. The new fare charges were put into effect by the airline recently. This news has disappointed many travelers flying with it, as they now will have to pay more money to book their tickets.

The Guangzhou based airline offers business class flights to about 193 destinations worldwide. Termed as the world’s sixth biggest airline in line with the number of passengers flown, it is a popular choice for travelers to fly to several destinations from China. It also boasts of a massive fleet of 400 aircrafts. At present, it connects the cities of Chicago, and Los Angeles in the United States and it is slated to commence service to New York City this August. The airline has been offering viable options for leisure and business travelers ever since its launch in the year 1988.

Its decision to hike fares has not gone down well with its regular travelers. In fact, passengers booking tickets in the premier class will now have to shell 1.5 to 2.5 times more than their economy class counterparts to fly to their respective destinations. However, the airline has also decided to increase the fares in the first class section too.

Experts believe that the airline was forced to take such an extreme step in the wake of the falling passenger demand. They also suggest that other airlines too will follow its footsteps and announce an increase in their fares soon.

The airline, which operates out of its hubs in Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport, is set to leave a negative impact on the aviation sector in the country.
