Codeshare between US Airways and British Airways

US airways announced recently that it has entered into a codeshare with Britain’s flagship carrier, British Airways. This codeshare agreement involved the highly profitable transatlantic routes as well.

First phase of the codeshare will include most of the transatlantic flights operated by both the carriers. Later phases will include codesharing on more than 40 North American and Caribbean destinations and nearly 70 destinations across Middle East, Asia and Europe. Codesharing on all the flight is expected to be completed by the end of this summer.

Our passengers will now be able to enjoy unprecedented travel opportunities through this business merger.

This codeshare will offer passengers more convenience and tractability when journeying between Europe and the United States. This alliance may even help the Caribbean destinations by providing additional flights from various US Airways’ hubs in the United States. Passengers will be able to book tickets under this codeshare beginning May 14.

Part of American Airlines Group Inc, United Airways though has merged into the later but yet operates separately. It plans to enter into codeshare with few more airlines like Finnair and Iberia Airlines.
