Delta Air Lines recognized 2014 Airline of the Year

Purchase plane tickets to travel on Delta Air Lines and you will be a happier lot. Delta Air Lines has recently been named as the 2014 Airline of the Year. This is the first such recognition for a U.S. carrier in nearly a decade. The acknowledgement came from the readers of the prestigious Air Transport World magazine.

The Air Transport World (ATW) awards are considered to be among the best and most coveted honors in the aviation industry. Delta Air Lines will be presented with the 40th Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards at a ceremony to be held in Singapore in February this year.

Richard Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Delta Air Lines, welcomed the announcement and said that the airline and its staff have been honored.  He said that their hard work has been finally recognized with the 2014 Airline of the Year Award to be presented shortly by the Air Transport World magazine.

While selecting Delta Air Lines for the award, leadership in several categories was considered. These include excellent employee relations, high standards of customer service consistently, proven leadership in technological, environment and community endeavors, a consistent and excellent safety record, strong financial discipline, and leadership and innovation by executive management. Delta Air Lines as well as the other winners and their achievements would be prominently featured in a special section of the Air Transport World magazine March 2014 edition.

Last year, Delta Air Lines was named No. 1 Airline on the “Most Admired” global airline industry list of the Fortune magazine. The airline has received this honor for the second time in three years.
