Delta Air Lines to suspend six weekly nonstop Cincinnati-Phoenix flights

Delta Air Lines will no longer be offering air tickets to passengers wanting to travel between Cincinnati and Phoenix. The airline recently announced it is planning to suspend six weekly nonstop flights between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and Phoenix.

The airline in a statement cited rising fuel costs responsible for the flights suspension plans. The flights will be suspended from September 4, 2012.

Delta Air Lines has indicated it will be offering 150 non-stop daily flights from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky this summer.

Betsy Talton, Delta Air Lines’ spokeswoman, said that the significant increase in the price of jet fuel and the long stage length of this flight no longer make it viable and profitable. “This hasn’t been a successful route in the winter when demand is lower,” Talton said.

Delta Air Lines will be resuming seasonal daily direct flights between Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport and Phoenix from February 13 to April 30, 2012.
