Delta joins SkyTeam, Kenya Airways for Accra-Monrovia flight

Delta Air Lines recently announced it will be partnering with Kenya Airways and SkyTeam for providing connecting flights between Accra and Monrovia. The services on Accra-Monrovia route will be launched from September 1, 2014. The flights between the two destinations will be operated thrice weekly with the help of a Kenya Airways-operated Boeing 737 aircraft.

Perry Cantarutti, Delta Air Lines’ Senior Vice President for Europe, Africa and Middle East, said that the Kenya Airways flight will be offering seamless connections to Delta Air Lines’ customers traveling on nonstop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.

Perry said that Delta Air Lines already has a presence in Liberia for over four years now. He said that it is a matter of great happiness that the airline through its new partnership with Kenya’s national carrier Kenya Airways will continue to strengthen its association with Liberia further.

He also said that Delta Air Lines recognizes the paramount need and importance for keeping Monrovia continuously connected with the United States. For this, the Liberian government needs to be thanked effusively.

The new service will now be replacing the thrice weekly operations by Delta Air Lines being conducted between Kotoka International Airport and Monrovia’s Roberts International Airport. With the new service, the passengers booking Accra-New York JFK flights on Delta Air Lines will be able to enjoy the benefits of a thorough check-in for their entire travel from Monrovia.

According to Delta Air Lines, the passengers connecting in Accra will be allowed to move directly to the transit lounge without a clearance from the Ghanaian immigration for the flight departure for the airline’s dedicated airport gates to New York. Further, Delta Air Lines’ staff will also be present in order to facilitate the connecting customer process quite smoothly.
