Emirates to add daily New York-Milan business class service

Emirates, the gulf carrier that operates flights to various destinations worldwide from Dubai has decided to experiment on a different line. The airline is set to start daily service between New York and Milan beginning October 1, 2013. This route is one of the rarest that will operate without touching Dubai.

At present carriers including Delta Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Alitalia are operating on New York-Milan route with nonstop flights. Emirates, which serves 134 cities across 76 countries around the world, has three daily flights between Dubai and Milan. With the launch of this new service, passengers who wish to fly on the route will get another option to book business class flights to their destinations.

The airline believes that this unorthodox route will get it business. It sees a great potential in terms of passenger traffic between the two cities and has a very good product to offer. Both these cities are banking and fashion hubs and a considerable number of business class passengers frequent this route. Hence, the airline has a great opportunity to capitalize on its profits. Emirates, which offers sophisticated and modern business class cabins on its flights, will have to face completion from rivals to attract customers.

The airline is keen to widen its network across the United States but from Dubai. Currently it has connections with seven cities in the U.S. and is committed to expand to another fifteen in the future.

The carrier, which experimented with non-Dubai route launched flights on New York-Hamburg route. It however, had to discontinue operations on this route due to the lack of passenger traffic in 2008.

Priority check-ins, 40 kg luggage allowance, private shell with spacious and cushioned lie-flat seats, ICE entertainment system, swift onboard service, multilingual cabin crew, mini bar, and fine dining are a few amenities enjoyed by business class travelers in Emirates.
