Etihad Airways bags best first class catering title at 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards

Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways recently emerged triumphant by winning the best first class catering award at a glittering ceremony. The airline nagged the title at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards earlier this July.

Etihad Airways launched its “Flying Chef” service on its long haul international flights late last year and has employed the services of expert cooks drawn from several renowned Michelin-starred restaurants.

Werner Kimmeringer, Head of Guest Experience and Catering at Etihad Airways, said that the airline introduced chefs in its first class cabin so that it could offer its passengers a five-star restaurant style of service whilst cruising at 35,000 feet.

Kimmeringer further said that its passengers booking first class tickets receive unparalleled attention and choice. They are offered the opportunity to have their own personal chef who prepares the dishes based on their individual preferences and tastes.

The highlight of Etihad Airways first class menu includes the “pan-seared scallops with a parmesan cheese sauce” and the “balik style smoked salmon”.
