Etihad Airways recently launched its eight new fare categories, which will become applicable effective from September 14, 2015. The launch of “Fare Choices” will see the airline extensively unbundling its fares, and also provide more choice and clarity to the customers when booking first class and business class flights or travelling in economy class.
According to Etihad Airways, the eight new fare categories include First Class Freedom, Business Breaking Deals, Business Saver, Business Freedom, Economy Breaking Deals, Economy Saver, Economy Value and Economy Freedom.
A spokesperson of the airline said that the fares would vary from one category to another depending on checked baggage allowances, miles earned, and flexibility to make changes to the original booking, cancellation policies and upgrade eligibility.
Providing details about the business class categories, the airline said that the premium add-ons will vary by fare type. For example, if the customer is buying a Business Saver ticket it will be inclusive of the airline’s chauffeur service as well. The Business Breaking Deals ticket however doesn’t include such facility.
According to the airline, the frequent flyer points will be tied to the respective fare categories. For example, in business class categories a Business Freedom ticket will earn 175 percent, a Business Saver ticket earns 130 percent and a Business Breaking Deal ticket will earn 115 percent of miles flown. The customers booking a First Class Freedom ticket will earn 250 percent of miles flown. In economy class category, the customers booking an Economy Breaking Deal ticket will earn Etihad Guest Miles rquivalent to 25 percent of the miles flown, while an Economy Freedom ticket will earn 100 percent of the miles flown.
