Singapore Airlines (SIA) that offers services worldwide and across most favored destinations in Asia is synonymous to luxury. The airline that recently refurbished its interiors has become the darling of the industry.
Though the passengers flying on business class tickets between Singapore and London in September will be the first ones to feel the luxury, the airline eventually plans to expand the revolutionary seats on eight new Boeing 777-300ER aircrafts.
Passengers flying long distance to business or holiday destinations in Asia on SIA’s business class will experience the bliss of 28 inches wide and 78 inches long flat bed seats. Currently these are the widest seats available on any airline within the industry. Besides they offer more stowage space and better lighting and are designed especially to allow better attention from crew attendants. The seats which boast of modern metallic accents and high gloss finishing are a delight to be in.
The airline has also improvised its in-flight entertainment system. It has installed 18 inches wide LCD touch-screen from Panasonic that gives passengers the comfort of switching between 230 movies, 340 TV programs, 80 games, 790 CDs, radio, audio books and Berlitz lessons without having to move an inch. And the cherry on the cake is the nose cancellation headphones!
The carrier has long term plans to fit its Airbus A350s with these new seats. It expects to operate this new fleet of aircrafts by the end of 2015.
SIA operates flights across Asian cities like Hong Kong, Jakarta, Shanghai, Taipei, Mumbai, Seoul, New Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Denpasar, Bangalore, Bangkok, Dubai or Tokyo.
This makeover is believed to be a strategy from the airline to avert competition from major gulf players like Qatar, Emirates and Etihad operating on same routes.
