Fall Foliage Sites in Tokyo

Inexpensive flight tickets are available for fall travelers looking to get away and there is no better time to visit a place like Tokyo than in the fall. A city as rich in foliage as Tokyo offers fall sights and relaxing picnic areas that will give you a true taste of autumn -- no wonder many of the famous haikus and poems used Tokyo’s fall scenery as their inspiration. Visit some of these fall foliage spots to sit and watch the city go by and the fall leaves change before your eyes.

JinguGaien Ginkgo Avenue
This busy street center is often full of tourists coming in on Tokyo cheap flights, especially during tourist season. Come fall, however, the area thins out and visitors can sit on local park benches or even grass areas to watch the fall foliage, take in the sights of the city and even do a little people watching. The Avenue is only five minutes (by walking) from the Subway Gaienmae Station.

Rikugien Garden
After inexpensive flight tickets are purchased, there is a long flight ahead of you, especially if you are coming from the United States. Though it is a long flight, you can escape the crowds and streets altogether and visit the Rikugien Garden. Usually a spot for cherry blossom watching, come fall this garden is the perfect spot to relax or even have a romantic picnic with your significant other. Only seven minute walk from JR or the Tokyo Subway Station.

Mount Takao
Tokyo flight deals bring in a lot of avid hikers, since Tokyo offers lush hiking trails and high-altitude sights. Put on your hiking boots and see why everyone flies over to Tokyo to see by taking the scenic hiking trail up Mount Takao. Located just outside of Tokyo, this popular hiking spot won’t take too long to get to the top and the wait is more than worth it. Not only will you be able to overlook the entire city of Tokyo, but you will see some of the beauty Tokyo offers in the fall with bright oranges, rusts and gleaming yellows.

Lake Okutama
Another popular fall foliage sight for tourists coming in on the best fares to Tokyo is Lake Okutama. Here you can get away from the heavy crowds on the streets, avoid city parks and visit the local lake, which is often deserted come fall and winter. Bring a blanket, some picnic items and sit down and enjoy a few hours at the lake, even if the weather is less than favorable for swimming.
