Fly San Francisco For a Run!

July is often one busy month for San Francisco. Once the administration is done with the Independence Day celebration, which culminates in a million dollar pyro-display, the city prepares itself for the famed San Francisco Marathon.

Having been programmed for 31st July this year, San Francisco marathon is a world renowned event and is actively participated by racers from around the globe. The full marathon takes you to the entire city, starting at Embarcadero (near the Ferry Building). The marathon takes you to the Marina, Fisherman’s Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, Presidio and the Golden Gate Park, Haight Street and through the Potrero, Mission and Mission Bay Districts. Each participant receives a t-shirt, official finisher get 3.25” coaster medal, food, coconut water, metroelectro water, certificate. For being an official finisher, you need to finish the entire course in 6 hours and maintain 13.45 minutes per mile speed.

The marathon would operate under different variations such as 1st Half Marathon and 2nd Half Marathon, which as the name suggest cover the first half or the second half of the full marathon course. To finish off as an official finisher, you must complete the marathon within a 3.5 hour time. Freebies would be similar as would in the case of full marathon. Most people this year will run for different causes as well. The official site is full of such stories, from people funding dollar for every runner they overtake to other reasons, the marathon will collect funds from various social responsibilities as well.

If you are planning to take part in this marathon, book early and enjoy a plethora of cheap flights to San Francisco.

Besides the race, San Francisco would also offer you various attractions to keep yourself busy. Attractions such as Alcatraz, which is the most infamous prison for housing notorious criminals, golden gate bridge, which is neither the tallest or the biggest bridge but still remains one of the most photographed bridge in the world, Marrakech magic theater for a healthy dose of Peter Morrison trickery, Ferry building marketplace which offers tantalizing gastronomy scene and others. There are other attractions as well such as the Legion of Honor, Marin Headlands, Cable Car Museum, Golden Gate Park, Twin Peaks, Lombard street, Musee Mecanique, Ocean beach, Coit Tower, Lands End, Blazing Saddles Alamo Square et al.

While even with such an impressive list of attraction, San Francisco doesn’t have attractions such as Las Vegas or Orlando, yet city’s zeitgeist and lively spirit can win you over and make you come again and again. With Cheap tickets to San Francisco, planning vacations time and again don’t stay too expensive either.
