German carrier airberlin receives the first ever Boeing 737-700 aircrafts with Sky Interiors

The German flag carrier airberlin recently received the brand new Boeing 737-700 with newly designed sky interiors cabins to provide extra on-board comfort. The airline received the Boeing 737-800 last month that was also designed with the same interiors. With this, airberlin has become the first airline to offer sky interiors to the passengers on board through newly designed aircrafts i.e. Boeing 787-700 and 787-800. The airline will receive similar kind of next generation aircrafts in the near future.

"The introduction of the new Sky Interior is part of many comfort initiatives we are introducing throughout the Air Berlin fleet. This shows that we are placing even greater focus on the needs of business travelers and are making Air Berlin flights even more attractive. The Boeing Sky Interior is also a taste of things to come for Air Berlin passengers as the design is based on the interior of the Boeing Dreamliner," said Joachim Hunold, CEO Air Berlin.

The new sky interiors with improved functional terms have given an absolutely new look to the cabins. The side walls are now less curvy and contain larger windows recesses to give the cabin more open and modern look.

"The features of the new Boeing Sky Interior will provide increased comfort to Air Berlin passengers both on the 737-800 and on the 737-700. We are proud that Air Berlin is the first airline to take delivery and operate the new Boeing Sky Interior on a Next-Generation 737-700 model," said Marlin Dailey, vice president of Sales & Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

The new cabins provide a range of benefits such as more headroom in the aisle area and new compartments to stow more hand luggage. The luggage compartments in the aircrafts have also been redesigned so that less space is occupied in the cabins.

The cabins are equipped with concealed LED lights in different colors that will project the cabin into different colors. The touch screen monitor will be used to select the color scheme of the cabin light. There are eight colors with different modes that will change according to the atmosphere such as boarding, take –off, night, meal/ beverage sunset or sunrise.

Keeping in view the comfort of the passengers, the buttons above the passenger’s seat have also been redesigned. This will make the passengers easily distinguish between the call button and reading light button. The aircrafts are also equipped with noise-dampening materials that will reduce the noise levels to two to three decibels.
