Hainan Airlines launching direct Beijing-Boston flights from June

China’s fourth largest carrier Hainan Airlines is all set to bring China and United States even closer with the launch of new direct flights between Beijing and Boston. The Chinese travelers can now book airline tickets and benefit from the new direct-entry point to the U.S. from June 2014. The largest U.S. market Boston has so far been deprived of a nonstop service from China.

Hainan Airlines said that it has initiated the nonstop service to Boston after securing federal approval for the new flights in December last year. Pubin Liang, Hainan Airlines’ Managing Director – North America, said that there has been a dramatic growth in the educational, leisure and business travel and trade between the two largest countries – China and United States – of late. He said that this direct link between the two countries with new nonstop service between Beijing and Boston would further stimulate growth in the two regions.

Liang said that the Chinese tourists consider Massachusetts as one of the biggest markets and there has been a tremendous growth in tourism here. He said that Massachusetts has received some 150,000 Chinese tourists in 2012. He said that Hainan Airlines hopes to carry nearly 5,000 travelers every month on the new Beijing-Boston route. The airline had been trying to secure the federal approval for the direct service since 2007.
