Hawaiian Airlines sees bright prospects around the Pacific Rim

Hawaiian Airlines sees a brighter future ahead. And, that’s in the vicinity of the Pacific Rim. The airline has in recent years seen tremendous growth. It has grown nearly four times larger than it was 6 or 7 years ago. Mark Dunkerley, President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, said, “The airline wants to focus on markets in the Pacific Rim, as it is from this region that strong demand for Hawaiian vacation is continuously coming from.”

Dunkerley has however declined to name specific cities in the Pacific Rim for the present. He also said that Hawaiian Airlines has included smaller Airbus A321 aircrafts in its fleet, which will undoubtedly be appropriate for some markets spread along the Pacific Coast. The airline is currently using larger aircrafts in these places. According to Dunkerley, the larger aircrafts will instead be used to serve other markets, which are to be disclosed in future.

Travel experts said that Hawaiian Airlines has performed exceedingly well. It proved itself to be among the highest-rated U.S. carriers in 2016 in terms of on-time arrivals, with 91.1 percent of flights arriving on scheduled time. The U.S. Department of Transportation lauded Hawaiian Airlines for its performance, and said that its on-time arrivals were above the industry average of 81.4 percent.

Moreover, the revenue earnings of Hawaiian Airlines was also appreciable last year. The airline posted a net income of above $244 million, an increase of 33 percent when compared to 2015. In fact, the year 2016 proved to be one of the most profitable years for the airline so far. Travel experts though are keeping their fingers crossed despite the airline’s present momentum. The remain skeptical of the airline’s growth potential saying that adding new routes in the U.S. East Coast or Asia would prove to be quite challenging in view of many complexities involved. But Dunkerley exudes optimism instead saying that Hawaiian Airlines will continue to grow and prosper.
