JetBlue Airways, Delta added flights up passenger traffic at Stewart International Airport

JetBlue Airways new flights to Orlando have brought good news for Stewart International Airport. The airport authorities providing operational details for the months of July and August 2011 said that the passenger as well as cargo traffic has considerably shown an upward trend because of the added number of flights.

Stewart International Airport officials in a statement disclosed that the passenger traffic was 41,148 in July, up 13.4% as compared to the same period in 2010.  While, in August the passenger traffic was 41, 321, an increase of 11.9% as compared to the same month last year.

Michael Torelli, Business Development Manager for Stewart International Airport, provided operational results to the Stewart Airport Commission saying that the added flights by three airlines, including JetBlue Airways and Delta Air Lines, have made revenues for the airport jump up. He said that the three airlines operating out of the airport appear to be very well on track and seem to be taking the 2011 total higher than 2010. He forecast that the passenger traffic projections this year appears to be on course and is expected to reach the estimated 400,000.

Besides passenger traffic, Torelli also provided details about the cargo usage of Stewart International Airport, which has grown considerably over last year. In August, the total tonnage has nearly equaled all of 2010 with months still remaining to be accounted for. Torelli said that the total cargo tonnage by the end of August 2011 has already reached 10,475.
