JetBlue Airways to expand premium Mint service to Boston in 2016

JetBlue Airways is all set to expand its new premium Mint service to other domestic destinations in the United States next year. Media reports said that the airline will be introducing its Mint service to the Boston market in 2016. The airline''s move is aimed at attracting business travelers in a big way.

JetBlue Airways has made extensive efforts over the past few years to grow in Boston and has now become the largest airline to operate out of Boston Logan International Airport. The airline started operating out of Boston in 2007 and made its focus city. The airline has also significantly expanded its corporate traveler base as well.

Media reports quoted travel experts as saying that there is a growing competition in the New York transcontinental markets and the routes are considered as among the most profitable in the U.S. market. The experts however said that JetBlue Airways''' competitiors will keep a keen watch over the performance of the airline''s business class product and assess its performance before plunging into the competition.

The reports further stated that the highly competitive New York transcontinental market has been disrupted by JetBlue Airways'' Mint service from New York JFK to Los Angeles and San Francisco to Newark Liberty. The launch of Mint service has seen pricing dilution in the market, which also has been strongly contested by the airline''s rivals.

JetBlue Airways'' Mint service prominently features 16 flatbed seats, of which four are closed off private suites, on its sub-fleet of 11 Airbus A321 aircrafts. The Mint service was launched in 2014 and been a great success ever since and reported profits from the New York market. The airline hopes to operate 118 daily flights from Boston in January 2016, when compared to 54 daily flights in 2008. By peak summer season in 2016, the airline is planning to provide 140 daily flights services from Boston.
