JetBlue and South African Airways ink codeshare deal

JetBlue Airways and South African Airways (SAA) have signed a codeshare agreement. The deal between New York based carrier and South Africa’s most awarded carrier will benefit the passengers to utilize both their network routes via New York and Washington.

JetBlue, which offers cheap airfares, will use the B6 code on its flights between the United States and Johannesburg. This deal will also benefit passengers to connect to destinations beyond Johannesburg including Cape Town, Durban, East London, and Port Elizabeth, all cities located in South Africa. The codeshare agreement will benefit the passengers in a way that they will be able to travel on a single combined ticket, one-stop check-in, and seamless baggage transfer to the end destination. On the other hand, SAA operates daily service from Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport to New York John F. Kennedy International Airport and Washington Dulles International Airport.

Both the airline managements are happy with the deal and hope to pass on the benefits to the end passengers. The American carrier said it intends to strengthen its relationship with SAA and offer seamless travel opportunities to South Africa. It is excited to include cities beyond Johannesburg to its itinerary. It hopes to reach out to more passengers by giving them a hassle-free chance to fly between the two countries. On the other hand, SAA management too is pleased with the deal. It prides itself in the bi-lateral codeshare with the New York based airline. It hopes to benefit from the vast network of its partner airline and open more avenues for travelers to explore destinations in the United States.
