Korean Air expand transpacific partnership with Delta Air Lines

Korean Air has also announced it will be launching an additional flight between Seoul and Los Angeles. This will be the airline’s third service on the route. The airline has also said it will introduce second additional flight to San Francisco from Seoul. The additional flights services on both Los Angeles-Seoul and San Francisco-Seoul routes will be operational during the summer schedule.

The partnership is going to prove advantageous for Korean Air and Delta Air Lines as they both will have access to a combined network of 290 destinations. The two airlines will also be required to share revenue and costs on flights services across this extensive network. Moreover, the customers booking flights on the two airlines under this partnership will be provided opportunity to redeem and ear miles on Korean Air’s Skypass and Delta Air Lines’ Sky Miles loyalty programmes.

Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, while commenting on this joint transpacific venture, said, “The partnership agreement with Korean Air shows our commitment to the customers in providing seamless connectivity between the destinations in the United States and Asia. This will also further strengthen our longstanding partnership. We look forward to providing exceptional services to our customers as we have been doing always.”

Yang Ho Cho, Chairman and CEO of Korean Air, has also expressed his happiness over this strategic partnership with Delta Air Lines. Cho said, “Our customers are going to be immensely benefitted with this joint venture. This is going to help them to earn mileages and provide more travel options with more convenient connection schedules.”
