Malaysia Airlines, MAS, is strengthening USA codeshares agreement with American Airlines. The airline will put its code on AA’s Hong Kong – Dallas daily flight from July 11, 2014. In addition, MAS will also put its code on AA’s Seoul – Dallas flight from July 24, 2014.
MAS and AA both members of oneworld alliance, have expanded their codeshare by adding 260 connecting flights to and from New York and Los Angeles.
Ahmad Jauhari Yahya, CEO Malaysia Airlines, said that the airline is very happy to provide its passengers with increased connectivity to USA through its codeshare partner American Airlines. He further said that our passenhers will now be able to fly to popular destinations like Austin, Washington, Dallas, Orlando, St Louris, Miami and more seamlessly. This codeshare will open our reach domestic American market.
The airline first entered into a codeshare with AA in March 2013, at that time it was codesharing to five USA cities. It eventually expanded to 16 offering a total of 200 flights weekly. From August 1, 2014 there will be an addition of 11 more cities through New York and Los Angeles, eventually adding an additional 260 domestic flights.
The codeshare on this route will allow Malaysian passengers to fly to Hong Kong or Seoul and continue their journey through American Airlines to Dallas. At present these passengers fly to Tokyo Narita Airport and use the services of Japan Airlines or American Airlines to travel to New York or Los Angeles. By increasing the present codeshares the airline will put its code to onward flights from these arrival hubs, extending a smooth journey to passengers.
Malaysia Airlines will codeshare to Chicago, Orlando, Miami, Austin, Washington, and St. Louis from Los Angeles. This codeshare will be implemented from August 2, 2014. Also the codeshare to Chicago, Washington, Miami, and Austin from New York will start from the same date.
