Given Mumbai’s growing prominence on the world stage, several carriers are in the process of increasing their capacity for Mumbai.  In fact Singapore Airlines has announced that it will be increasing its Mumbai services from 17 flights to 19 flights a week, to cope with the increased demand during the summer of 2012. These changes will come into effect on 25th March and continue until 27th October 2012.

India’s own, Jet Airways recently increased capacity on its Mumbai- Bangkok route in December 2011, with a third daily flight, using B737-800 aircraft, offering 16 Premiere and 138 economy class seats. The airline now has from mid-February, deployed new Boeing 737-900 ER aircraft on its Mumbai to Kathmandu and Mumbai to Kuwait routes in an effort to increase capacity. Yet another Asian carrier, Thai airways has also announced that it will increase flights from Mumbai to the beach resort of Phuket in mid-2012.

However the current turmoil in the Eurozone has also affected flight connections to Mumbai for carriers like Austrian Airlines have announced a cessation of Vienna to Mumbai flights from 25th Marc 2012, while Air France, has reduced its air connections from Paris to Mumbai and other Indian cities from daily to six times a week.
