New York-based Equinox Holdings Inc., the parent company of Equinox Fitness, which currently owns 75 health clubs, has said that it will now foray into the luxury hotels sector. The company has indicated that it is actively considering opening 75 hotels in different parts of the world, which will also have luxury health clubs within the hotel premises. The company said that the hotels will mostly cater to the health-conscious travelers. The other prominent locations where the hotels are due to open include Toronto and London.
Harvey Spevak, CEO of Equinox, said, “Manhattan has been selected for the first hotel, which is scheduled to open in 2018. The second hotel will open in Los Angeles in 2019. The company will be investing or raising several billions of dollars to open the hotels in different countries of the world, including the United States.” He also said that these hotels will be suited most to all those who live an active lifestyle and looking for a luxurious experience during the course of their stay.
The first hotel to come up in Manhattan will be situated in Hudson Yards. The hotel will also have indoor and outdoor pools as well as a 60,000-square-foot gym. Spevak also said that the restaurants at the hotels will be featuring healthy menu options, such as organic chocolate cake. The ingredients for the food preparation will be sourced locally.
Equinox is however not the first to offer health and fitness facilities. These days there are many full-service hotels that are increasingly offering fitness rooms to their guests completely outfitted with soothing spas and expensive equipment. TRYP by Wyndham chain, a part of Wyndham Worldwide Corp., is offering fitness rooms equipped with yoga mats, treadmills and exercise bikes at its 120 hotels in the Americas and Europe.
