The Sultanate of Oman’s national airline, Oman Air has earned the Readers’ Choice award in the U.S based luxury dining magazine, Saveur annual Culinary Travel Awards. The travelers love to be greeted with coffee and dates in the traditional Arabic style during the flight. Even at 40,000 feet, the dining experience for the business class and first class passengers is ambrosial which made them choose Oman Air as their favorite for the year 2014.
Paul Gregorowitsch, CEO, Oman Air expressed delight on having been praised to the skies by the Saveur Readers for the in-flight dining excellence. He also added that the menu is changed frequently depending upon the flight distance and the destinations’ cuisines. The course meals are planned lavishly considering the flight length and the seasonal ingredients. The delicacies are served on custom made chinaware and aesthetic cutlery.
The readers specifically heaped praise on the long haul flight dining during the Heathrow, London to Muscat, Oman flights. Beginning with champagne (Dom Pérignon) and caviar service, the canapés, starters like apple and winter pumpkin soup, entrées including poached beef fillet, grilled asparagus saffron risotto and Loch Fyne Salmon. The business class and first class can also try the delectable Arabic Mezze platter of Kibbe, spinach fatayer, Tabbouleh, and the readers’ choice – King Prawn Skewers, seasoned okra and steamed rice with pine nuts and chickpea. The passengers also get to indulge in the Croft Port Vintage Wine with cheese platter after dessert which includes Petit Gâteau, Baklava or Chocolate Mousse.
After this delightful decadence, the guests relish fresh fruits, yogurt and Bircher muesli along with freshly brewed coffee – a small feast before arrival.
What a perfect square meal for perfect in-flight experience!
