Philippines Airlines and Cebu Pacific keen to resume Rome service

It is good news for Romans who wish to explore the exotic locales of the South East Asia including Manila and other destinations in the Philippines. The Civil Aeronautical Board of Philippines is expected to hold talks with Rome to re-launch service on Rome-Manila route.

Philippines had been banned by the European Union (EU) to operate service into Europe but it was scrapped off the blacklist earlier this month. EU had placed Manila on its disqualified list owing to poor safety that failed to meet international aviation standards.

This opens avenues for indigenous airlines like Philippines Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific to reconnect Manila and other cities with the Italian capital.

The Civil Aeronautical Board is slated to meet the authorities in Rome on September 4-5, 2013 and vouch in the interest of the airlines and passengers from Rome waiting to fly directly to the South East Asian nation.

PAL is hopeful of the meeting and expects positive results out of it. If all goes well for the airline it will start service on the Manila-Rome route in September or October this year.

PAL expects a large number of tourists to flock its country of origin by the end of this year. There is huge demand on this route and customers from both cities are anxiously waiting for this service to open the travel gateway for them.
