Qantas to upgrade its business class flights to Honolulu

Qantas is upgrading its Boeing 767s to Airbus A330s between Sydney and Honolulu. The upgraded service will commence from September 14 through December 27, 2014.

The newer airbus will provide international-level seating to business class passengers who are traveling on this route. Starting from September 14 to October 25 passengers will be able to travel using A330-300. And from October 26 the airline will change this aircraft to its smaller version Airbus A330-200 that will fly through to December 27.

A spokesman of the airline said that from September 14 to Dec 27 Qantas will upgrade its aircraft to an Airbus A330s and will add additional flights on some Saturdays to fulfill the increased passenger demand.

The A330 aircraft will offer upgraded features like in-flight entertainment system behind the seat as compared to the iPads with wireless Q streaming system provided in Boeing 767. The business class seats in the airbus A330s will have angled flat Skybed seats. This will replace the recliners present in the Boeing 767 aircraft. The airline will eventually replace the sloping sleepers in A330s with lie-flat business suite. The first of these upgraded aircrafts will not fly until the end of this year.

The fleet-wide upgrade process will be carried on until the middle of 2016. Uniformity will not be a major concern on the A330 routes unless the seats are upgraded completely.

The flight on Sydney-Honolulu route departs from Sydney at 8:55 p.m. and arrives in Honolulu at 9:35 a.m. the same day. The return flight will leave Honolulu at 11:05 a.m. and arrives in Sydney at 6:35 p.m. the next day.

The upgrade of aircrafts forms an essential part in the growth and development of the airline and the early retirement of the old Boeing 767 fleet render this change. The aircraft will however appear some flights that are scheduled from December 28, 2014.
